We
enjoyed a late breakfast with Jack and Ida, for once we were
able to catch up on some long lost sleep. We waited for
the arrival of our tour guide, Paul. He was the best man
at the wedding and promised Scott he would show the four of us
Seattle. He arrived about 11 a.m. and the five of us
drove to downtown Seattle to visit the famous Space Needle.
We took the elevator, (which is on the outside of the needle!)
to the observation deck. What an awesome sight. Seattle
is a beautiful place. We did not stay on the deck very long
because it was windy and cold!
Jack
treated us to Brunch at the Sky City Dining room. This was
just below the observation deck on the needle and it slowly
revolves. Our visit happened to be the same time
as 'Sea Fair' (this is an annual event in Seattle) so we were
treated to a delightful demonstration of the aerial tricks of
the well known, "Blue Angels" What a sight!
Out on the water (Puget Sound) several ships were coming into
port and sail boats were sailing. A fire fighting boat
was displaying its waterspouts. It was just an awesome
sight
no matter what direction you looked.
Leaving
the Space Needle, Paul took us into the heart of the city.
He treated us to a sight that no everyday tourist can enjoy.
We were taken to the roof of the second tallest building in
Seattle. We walked all around the building for another
spectacular view of Seattle. We were higher than we were
at the Space Needle. Photos were taken to show us on the roof
with the needle
in
the background. What a treat!
Back on
Terra Firma, we took a ride back to the area of the needle to
'Ride the Ducks'. Paul begged off as it had been a long
day, or should I say - weekend, for him. He had things
to do before getting back to work as a
Security
Guard for the building on which we were just walking!
(How else could we have gotten up there *g*)
Ah,
yes, 'Ride the Ducks' What a fun tour that was, with
Captain Courageous as your tour guide ! There is no
describing it, you just have to go to Seattle and do the tour
yourself!!!! "Duck #2 - YES !" The
'ducks' are amphibious vehicles that were used during W.W.II
and our 'duck' is the oldest one there !
Our day
was not complete, according to Jack, until we found a casino
to 'throw away some money' (my little funny) On our
drive north we ran across a Mexican Restaurant. Jack and
Ray, like this kind of cuisine but Ida and I are not fond of
it, thank goodness for salads and steak !
We got
to an Indian Reservation, where casino's are allowed.
Jack gave each of us a $100 bill and we agreed to leave when
we all were out of money. After about an hour, we all
leave.....everyone leaves broke,
except for
me !!! I came out with $119.40, so I gave Jack his $100
and kept the rest. And I was the one that said I saw no
point in throwing your money
away!!!!
Of course, it wasn't my money, so I didn't really care!
*Grinning*
We
actually found our hotel in record time without even getting
lost, maybe we were finally learning the ways of those
mountain roads???? I however, was getting very,
very carsick in the back seat !!! We got me to the room,
where I
laid down to settle the stomach. It was after one in the
morning and it had been a long but fun day.
